Starting Preschool can be emotional at the best of times, but we understand how challenging this experience may be for parents of children with additional needs.
Here at Lordswood Preschool, we are committed to supporting families with any additional support they may need.
Sarah is our wonderful SEND Coordinator, who always keeps up to date with external training and passes that knowledge on through our preschool. Our team of Early Years Practitioners always work incredibly hard to make sure children at our preschool are given the best possible start in life, regardless of their individual requirements.
We emphasise the importance of ensuring that all practitioners within our preschool are aware of and understand their responsibilities to SEND children, as well as our approach to identifying and meeting SEND requirements.
It is important to us that we liaise with professional bodies and agencies beyond our setting, such as speech and language therapists, portage, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. We are very experienced at assisting parents with SEND questions and/or challenges. We make sure that parents are closely involved throughout their child's learning journey, and their insights are taken into account in regard to any decisions that we make. We also work closely with our Early Years Support Teacher who can offer advice or signpost us to any other agencies or support networks if we feel your child may need extra support. We follow their recommendations to help the child meet their planned individual targets.
