At Lordswood Community Pre School our children 'learn through play'. Through this principle we deliver The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The provision for the development and learning of children from birth to 5 years is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage. Our provision reflects the four overarching principles of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (DfE 2014):
A Unique Child
Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships
Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners, parents and carers.
Learning and Development
Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision including children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The EYFS sets the standards that we as a provider must meet to ensure that the children attending our setting learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.
The EYFS ensures the children are ready for their next stage in their journey.
As part of the EYFS each key person makes observations, assessments and plans for each child, monitoring their skills at each of their foundation stages. We record this informatrion in your child's learning journal.
We use an online learning journal called 'Tapestry'
Tapestry is a secure online Journal which you will have access to using your email address and password. Your child's key person will add their observations, including photos on a regular basis which you will be able to view, comment and add your own too.
You will be given log in details to access your child's account once your child has started with us.
To access Tapestry you can download the app on a smart phone or tablet or log in using a pc / laptop.
