Children are welcomed to join us in Butterfly room from the age of 3 years until they leave to go to primary school.
We use the same principle in this room as in our Caterpillar room (2-year-olds) to enable us to provide a wide range of activities to all children and to develop their learning at their own pace – although the children do have time in their own age groups throughout the day, they are also able to join in with our older children and their activities which provides them with a varied experience and extended opportunities to learn throughout the day. The activities in butterfly room are more structured to begin preparing the chidlren for school.
Children learn through play based activities. All the children’s toys and activities are freely accessible to enable the children to choose what they would like to play with across our 7 areas of learning. This helps build their independence and confidence. The keyworkers will set some activities up at the beginning of each session based around the children’s needs and interests to help encourage their development.
Your child’s key person will be the person who works with you to make sure that the childcare we provide is right for your child’s needs, interests, form a bond with your child and help with the transition from home to preschool.
The key person is there for you to share any information regarding your child and will help with your child’s development and confidence. Your key person is there for you to speak to in confidence about any issues or concerns you may have.
When you child first starts at our setting, their key person will help your child settle and throughout their time at our setting they will help your child to benefit from our activities
